QUAY WORDS’ HOME:
Currently, we rely on “The Mary Read” to take our book loot from place to place. Please see the “Find Us” tab above for more details about our up-to-the minute location. Though being literature vagabonds is fun, we would really like to settle down into a permanent home. Our plan is to save and construct a building outside of our residence at 120 Brackett Avenue. We are fortunate to have a beautiful and ancient home (135 years!) that came with a uniquely large yard to Peaks. The Quay Words LLC building will sit in the front yard by the road and hopefully will become a local hangout for bibliophiles and an event space for writer’s workshops, poetry readings, and children’s activities.
Don’t worry, even when a land-lubber home for all the books does exist, we don’t plan on retiring “The Read.” She will follow the same fate as all good Peaks Island cars do and will remain in use until she is run aground.
BOOK BINDING AND REPAIR:
Sometimes disaster strikes – covers are damaged, bindings break, pages get ripped, and Peaks’ moisture leads to mold. We’ve been there, these book wounds can be devastating. Quay Words is in the process of honing skills to work efficiently for people wanting to repair their most-loved books. Keep checking back here to learn the status of our book repair services and book-binding lessons.
