We are a merry band of misfits who putter around in a former haunted house on Brackett Avenue, Peaks Island. Peaks has been our year-round home since 2012 when we pulled the crazy stunt of relocating from New London, Connecticut six months after we first set foot on the island. In the past seven years, we have enjoyed a charmed existence and only found two things lacking on Peaks:
- Ma-and-Pop-Restaurant style grinders (don’t even get us started on a rant about Maine “Italians”)
- A bookstore
Since reading is like breathing for us and since nobody here even knows what a “grinder” is, we decided the easiest thing to remedy was the bookshop. It’s still early, but we are hopeful to make Quay Words a permanent part of our Peaks community.
